The Goan Review - One more feature in the Awchats’ cap - This couple definitely have what it takes. The indefatigable foodies, Dr. Suhas Awchat and his wife Deepa have done it again. This time their restaurant Goa Portuguesa has won the H & FS “Best India Restaurant in against 50 other big names on the Indian restaurant scene. Congratulations to Executive Chef Deepa & Dr. Suhas Awchat !

Maharashtra Kala Niketan celebrated their 7th Annual Maharashtra Awards in the memory of renowned Journalist, Editor/ M.P.Late Vidhyadhar Gokhale at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hall, Parle.

These awards were given to the great personalities from Art, Culture, Drama & Cinema considering their performance & excellence. One of which was Mrs. Deepa Awchat, C.E.O. & Executive Chef of Goa Portuguesa & Culture Curry restaurants. Mrs. Deepa Awchat was awarded as Maharashtra Guarav by Ex. C.M. Hon. Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh for her ever popular restaurants Goa Portuguesa & Culture Curry, and her contribution to the society for developing a whole art of culinary. The renowned Chef-de-Culinaire, Deepa Awchat has exploded the myths that Indian food is only Punjabi, Moglai and South Indian food is only idli-dosa, sambhar. Even the New York Times & NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation has felicitated these two restaurants terming them as Outstandimg Gourmet Restaurants of India.

On this occasion many renowned celebrities like Shri. Mangesh Padgaokar, Shri. Bhalji Pendharkar, Shri. A.K. Hangal & Shri. Pramod Navlkar were present to make it a memorable event. And our Education Minister Hon. Shri. Dilip Patil & Shri. R.R. Patil (Cabinet Minister) visited Culture Curry to extend their personal greetings to Deepa Awchat, as they couldn't attend the award ceremony.

Kudos to Deepa Awchat for this achievement and one more addition to her exquisite collection of awards.

Parts of proceeds of the restaurants donated to "Muktangan", School for mentally challenged.

that Indian food is only North Indian. We bring to you Popular Non Veg & Veg delicacies of
Southern India & soon to be included will be Srilankan cuisine .

After doing a thorough R & D, conducting different Food Festivals & receiving valued suggestion from our esteemed south Indian guests who have visited us in last few months, Culture Curry has incorporated the Hit, Hot & Hip delicacies of south into a single & interesting menu, literally bringing southern peninsula of India to Mumbai city. The exotic southern cuisines are prepared by cooks smuggled from Dakshin - Chennai & Cochin. The cuisines are standardized & modified to suit the Mumbaikar's palates by Executive Chef Deepa Awchat. For the "Rare kind & Kill joys' we also have some popular so called Indian ? cuisines.

Culture Curry is a mini south India in Mumbai. The decor offers you glimpses of South like Kathakali masks, Wooden ceiling, Chatais, 'Stambhs' (pillars) with 'Deeyas', antique wooden carvings & Tanjore paintings like in South Indian temples. Waiters are dressed in traditional Veshti with a background of Popular South Indian music.

The much awaited Adda showcased paintings & works of Jehangir Jani which was appreciated
by one and all. Followed by The Surprise Musical Presentation by Pankaj Prashar ( Director-Tumko Na Bhool Payenge fame), This very special launch evening of Culture Curry was graced by a galaxy of celebrities from various fields.
